Report of Regents P-12 Education/Cultural Education Joint Meeting Committee to The Board of Regents

Regent Roger Tilles, Chair of the Cultural Education Committee, submitted the following written report. Your Committee on Cultural Education Committee had its scheduled meeting on November 19, 2013.

In attendance were committee members: Regents Tilles, Dawson, Bendit, Rosa Cea, Jackson and Brown. Absent:  Regent Cottrell

In addition to CE Committee Members, in attendance were: Chancellor Tisch, Vice Chancellor Bottar Regents Cashin, Young, Norgrove, Chapey, and Tallon as well as Commissioner King and Executive Deputy Commissioner Berlin.

In attendance were committee members: Regents Tilles, Bendit, Rosa, Cea, Cottrell and Brown. Absent: Regent Finn. Report of Regents Cultural Education Committee to The Board of Regents

Regent Roger Tilles, Chair of the Cultural Education Committee, submitted the following written report. Your Committee on Cultural Education Committee had its scheduled meeting on December 2013. In attendance were committee members: Regents Tilles, Dawson, Bendit, Rosa Cea, Jackson Cottrell, and Brown. Absent: None.

In addition to CE Committee Members, in attendance were: Chancellor Tisch; Vice Chancellor Bottar; Regents Chapey, Tallon, and Norwood and Executive Deputy Commissioner Berlin.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

Judith Johnson

Judith Johnson was appointed to the Board of Regents for a five year term effective April 1, 2015. She has devoted her professional life to public education. Whether working to transform national and local educational policy to significantly improve the quality of education, leading school districts to give all children the same opportunity to succeed, or building partnerships with the business community, civic organizations, government leaders and the Arts community, she has built an extensive network of partners to help schools raise student achievement.

Beverly L. Ouderkirk

Beverly L. Ouderkirk was appointed to the New York State Board of Regents on March 10, 2015 for a five-year term effective April 1, 2015. She proudly represents the students, educators, parents, and communities within the eleven counties comprising the major geographic portion of the North Country. Regent Ouderkirk brings to her appointment over fifty years of experience in public education in New York State.

Your P-12 Education Committee, Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Committee (ACCES) and Cultural Education Committee held a joint meeting on February 9, 2015. All members were present, except for Regents Brown and Cottrell, who were excused.
