The Higher Education Committee held its scheduled meeting on October 16, 2023.  All members were present except Co-Chairs Regent Kathleen M. Cashin and Regent Catherine Collins who were excused. Chancellor Lester W. Young, Jr., chaired the meeting in their absence. 

MATTERS NOT REQUIRING BOARD ACTION

Overview and update of the Office of College and University Evaluation - Department staff presented an overview of the Office of College and University Evaluation (OCUE), which is responsible for the review and approval of general academic programs, as well as those that lead to teacher, education leader, and pupil personnel certification. OCUE also has oversight of State Authorization activities for institutions of higher education, including the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement, Permission to Operate, and the establishment of new degree-granting institutions.  

Deputy Commissioner William Murphy reviewed the items on the Consent Agenda.
