Report of Regents Professional Practice Committee to The Board of Regents

Your Professional Practice Committee held its scheduled meeting on October 16, 2018.  All members were present except Regent James E. Cottrell.  Chancellor Betty A. Rosa and Regent Kathleen M. Cashin were also present but did not vote on any case or action.

ACTION ITEMS

Professional Discipline Cases

Your Committee recommends that the reports of the Regents Review Committees, including rulings, findings of fact, determinations as to guilt, and recommendations, by unanimous or majority vote, contained in those reports which have been distributed to you, be accepted in 5 cases.  In addition, your Committee recommends, upon the recommendation of the Committee on the Professions, that 32 consent order applications and 10 surrender applications be granted.

These recommendations are made following the review of 47 cases involving eleven registered professional nurses, five licensed practical nurses, four licensed master social workers, four licensed practical nurses who are also registered professional nurses, three architects, two pharmacies, one certified public accountant, one licensed marriage and family therapist, one licensed master social worker who is also a licensed clinical social worker, one licensed mental health counselor, one occupational therapist, one ophthalmic dispenser, one pharmacist, one professional engineer, one professional engineer professional corporation, one public accountancy partnership, one registered professional nurse who is also a nurse practitioner (Psychiatry), and one speech-language pathologist.

MOTION FOR ACTION BY FULL BOARD

Madam Chancellor and Colleagues: Your Professional Practice Committee recommends, and we move, that the Board of Regents act affirmatively upon each recommendation in the written report of the Committee's deliberations at its meeting on October 16, 2018, copies of which have been distributed to each Regent.

Discussion to announce the addition of Paths to the Professions to the OP website. Designed for students, parents, and educators, Paths helps users learn about careers in the licensed professions. Much of the material was adapted from existing resources, with the help of the State boards, board offices, and volunteers in the field.

2019 Non-State Aid Budget and Legislative Priorities [PPC(D)3]

The Regents advance Non-State Aid budget and legislative requests every year, which reflect initiatives that support the Board’s priorities by augmenting or adding funds to the State Education Department’s budget.
