MATTERS NOT REQUIRING BOARD ACTION
Core Rehabilitation Services Contracts – The Committee was provided an update on the new ACCES vocational rehabilitation service contracts. These contracts will provide a wide array of vocational rehabilitation services to nearly 80,000 individuals with disabilities each year. These services where previously purchased through two separate contracts, one for supported employment services and another for all other specialized vocational rehabilitation services. The new Core Rehabilitation Services (CRS) contracts will combine all of these vocational rehabilitation services into one set of contracts.
Creation of an Advisory Council on Access to Higher Education for Students with Disabilities – The Committee was provided an updated on proposed steps to be taken to create an Advisory Council on Higher Education for Students with Disabilities. The advisory council will be created to provide critical thinking and feedback to SED on the issues impacting students’ access to, support during, and the successful completion of a higher education degree. This is in response to the need to improve access to and improve graduation outcomes from higher education institutions for students with disabilities.
