Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) State Plan - Department staff will present New York State’s ESSA Plan for approval by the Board of Regents and submission to US Department of Education.

New York P-12 Learning Standards for the Arts (Dance, Music, Theater, Visual and Media Arts) - Department staff will present the New York State Standards for the Arts to the Board of Regents for adoption.
Proposed Amendment of Section 100.5 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education and Proposed New Section 100.20 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education to Implement the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children and Provisions Relating to Transfer Credits and Diploma Requirements for Physical Education - Department staff will present revisions to Commissioner’s Regulations §100.5 and add a new §100.20 to implement the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children and other provisions relating to exemptions from the assessment requirements for transfer students and diploma requirements for physical education.
Unit of Study Requirements for Career and Technical Education in Grades 7 and 8 - Department staff will present revisions to Commissioner’s Regulations to amend §100.4(c)(1) regarding the distribution of the unit of study requirements in grades 7 and 8 in Career and Technical Education (CTE) to allow for greater flexibility in meeting those requirements across various CTE disciplines.
Next Generation Learning Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics Update - Department staff will present New York State’s Next Generation Learning Standards to the Board of Regents for adoption.
Proposed Amendment to Section 100.2(x) of the Commissioner’s Regulations to Implement the Provisions of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act for the Education of Homeless Children and Youths, as Reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act - Department staff will present revisions to Commissioner’s Regulations to conform §100.2(x) of the Regulations pertaining to the education of homeless youth to recently enacted changes to §3209 of Education Law.
Funding for Preschool Special Class Integrated Setting Programs - Department staff will update the Board of Regents regarding the Department’s efforts to develop a recommendation for a more effective program model and methodology of reimbursement for educating preschool students with disabilities alongside their typically developing peers in integrated settings within early childhood programs in New York State.

Proposal for a new Pathway to a New York State High School Equivalency Diploma - Department staff will present an alternative pathway to a high school equivalency diploma that would allow individuals to utilize passing high school Regents examination scores in place of TASC™ subtests.

Board of Regents Oversight of Financial Accountability - Department staff will review recently completed audits.

New York State Talking Book and Braille Library - Department staff will update the Regents on services provided to over 14,000 customers and over 2,500 institutions and depositories from the Talking Book and Braille Library, which is part of a national network.

Proposed Amendment of Section 79-7.2 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to the Education Requirements for Certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer - Department staff will present a proposed amendment to §79-7.2 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education to conform to the national education standards for certification as an athletic trainer.

Update on the edTPA Standard Setting Committee and Amendment to Section 80-1.5 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education to Extend the edTPA Safety Net and Revise the Eligibility Criteria for the Multiple Measures Review Process - Department staff will present the recommendations of the edTPA Standard Setting panel to the Board of Regents and a proposed amendment to the Regulations related to the “safety net” performance assessment.
Proposed Amendment of Sections 30-3.2 and 30-3.5 of the Rules of the Board of Regents and Sections 52.21 and 80-3.10 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to the Adoption of the 2015 Professional Standards for Educational Leaders with Certain New York Specific Modifications for the Purpose of Registration of School Building Leader Programs and School Building Leader Evaluation - After discussion of the input from the field and the Principal Project Advisory Team, Department staff will present the PSEL for adoption.
Proposed Amendment to Section 145-2.1 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to the Eligibility Criteria for the Tuition Assistance Program - Department staff will present an amendment to the Regulations related to the TAP.
