Issue for Decision

Should the Regents issue the initial charter and provisional charter for the Kingsbridge Innovative Design Charter School (New York City)?

Background Information

The application to establish the Kingsbridge Innovative Design Charter School (“the School”) was approved by the Board of Regents at its January 12, 2010 meeting.  Staff recommends that the initial charter and provisional charter now be issued. 

Additional information concerning this initial application may also be found on the Board of Regents website at http://www.regents.nysed.gov/.

Recommendation

VOTED: That the Board of Regents issues a charter and provisional charter to the Kingsbridge Innovative Design Charter School for a term of five years, up through and including February 8, 2015.

 

 

Reasons for Recommendation

The proposed charter school: (1) meets the requirements set out in Article 56 of the Education Law, and all other applicable laws, rules and regulations; (2) will operate in an educationally and fiscally sound manner; and (3) is likely to improve student learning and achievement and materially further the purposes set out in subdivision two of section twenty-eight hundred fifty of Article 56 of the Education Law.

Timetable for Implementation

           The Regents action for the Kingsbridge Innovative Design Charter School is effective immediately.
