SUMMARY:

 

            On December 17, 2004, the Board of Regents as a charter entity approved the charter school application for the Urban Choice Charter School and the charter school renewal applications for the Genesee Community Charter School and the Harriet Tubman Charter School.  Thereafter, pursuant to Article 56 of the Education Law, the Board of Regents, as the charter entity, is required to enter into agreements allowing the applicants to organize and/or operate the charter schools.  Complete copies of the applications for the schools listed below will be included as Ex. A to the charter agreements.  They are available for your review by contacting James R. Butterworth at 518-474-4817 or Shelia Evans-Tranumn at 718-722-2796.

 

            Upon final approval of the charter agreements, the Board of Regents incorporates the new charter school as an education corporation by issuing a provisional charter pursuant to Education Law §§216 and 217.  In the case of the renewals, the Board of Regents will amend and extend the provisional charters accordingly.

 

VOTED: That the Board of Regents approve the charter agreement pursuant to Article 56 of the Education Law for the following charter school, and incorporate such school by granting a provisional charter for a period of five years:

 

·        Urban Choice Charter School, Rochester

 

VOTED:  That the Board of Regents approve the charter agreement pursuant to Article 56 of the Education Law for the following charter school and extend its provisional charter for a period of five years:

 

·        Genesee Community Charter School, Rochester

 

VOTED: That the Board of Regents approve the charter agreement  pursuant to Article 56 of the Education Law for the following charter school, amend its provisional charter to change the corporate address to 3565 Third Avenue, Bronx, NY 10456, and, as so amended, extend its provisional charter for a period of two years:

 

·        Harriet Tubman Charter School, New York City
