MOTION FOR ACTION BY FULL BOARD

Mister Chancellor and Colleagues:  Your Higher Education Committee recommends, and we move, that the Board of Regents act affirmatively upon each recommendation in the written report of the Committee’s deliberations at its meeting on October 18, 2021, copies of which have been distributed to each member of the Board of Regents.

Matters Requiring Board Action:

Amendment to Section 50.1(l) of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to the Definition of “University”- Department staff presented a revised amendment to the definition of “university” based on numerous public comments received concerning the amended definition discussed by the Board of Regents in February 2021 and published in the State Register for public comment.

Amendments to Sections 52.21, 57-4.5, and 80-1.13 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Permitting the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Training to Be Provided Entirely Online - Department staff presented proposed regulatory amendments to permit approved DASA training providers to provide the six-clock hour DASA training entirely online, no longer requiring at least three clock hours face-to-face instruction.  

Recognition of the Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education as an Institutional Accrediting Agency - Department staff recommend that the Regents vote not to apply for renewal of recognition by the Secretary of Education as an institutional accrediting agency. The current term of recognition will expire on May 9, 2023.

Master Plan Amendment for CUNY Lehman College - The Board of Regents voted to authorize The City University of New York, Lehman College, to award the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree and that the Board of Regents approve a master plan amendment to authorize CUNY Lehman College to offer a program in Organizational Leadership, Development and Change leading to the Ed.D. degree.

Regents Authorization for CUNY Bernard M. Baruch College - The Board of Regents voted to authorize CUNY Bernard M. Baruch College to award the D.B.A. degree to students successfully completing the registered Business program.

Master Plan Amendment fort D’Youville College -  The Board of Regents voted to approve the Master Plan Amendment application for D’Youville College authorizing the college to offer its first program in the Fine Arts discipline area, Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Dramatic Theater Arts. 

Conferral of Degrees for Glasgow Caledonian NY College and Dowling College - The Board of Regents voted to confer degrees upon those individuals who completed the requirements for registered degree programs at Glasgow Caledonian New York College and Dowling College.
