Regent Roger Tilles, Chair of the Cultural Education Committee, submitted the following written report.

Your Committee on Cultural Education Committee had its scheduled meeting on February 2012.

Committee members: Regents Tilles, Dawson, Rosa, Cea, Jackson, Cottrell, Bendit

In attendance were committee members:
Absent was Regent Cottrell,

In addition to CE Committee Members, in attendance were:  Regents Phillips, Tallon, Norwood, and Bottar as well as Commissioner King, Executive Deputy Commissioner Grey and P-12 Deputy Commissioner Slentz.

ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

Chair’s Remarks: Regent Tilles welcomed everyone.  The Cultural Education Committee meeting immediately followed the joint P-12 Cultural Education Committee meeting.

Deputy Commissioner Jeffrey Cannell introduced the item for discussion today:

CE (D) 1 – Museum Advisory Council
With approval at the January CE Committee meeting to activate, pursuant to Regents Rules 3.12(a)(4),  an advisory committee on museums whose responsibility would be to provide the board with advice and consultation on issues of policy and service delivery pursuant to the Board’s statutory mandate to operate the State Museum and oversee museums across New York State, a list of proposed members was submitted for the Board of Regents’ consideration and approval.  . The committee supported the appointment of the eleven individuals on the list.  The list will be considered for full adoption by the full-board.
