Commemoration through Collaboration: Bringing New York State’s History Alive Through the 250th American Revolution Commemoration Commission - Department staff and leadership from New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will present information about the 250th American Revolution Commemoration Commission and how the Commission is working to celebrate the American Revolution by highlighting New York’s central role in the conflict, how we are working to highlight the unfinished revolution to ensure that all Americans are represented in “We The People,” and the partnership with Parks that will connect students to the Revolution in Their Backyard through project and place-based learning opportunities. |

Proposed Addition of Subpart 124-1 to the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to District Superintendents - Department staff will present a proposed regulatory amendment that describes and clarifies the roles, responsibilities, and employment conditions of District Superintendents. Reimagining Accountability - Department staff will present proposed changes to the ESSA Accountability System for the 2025-2026 school year using 2024-2025 data. The proposed changes honor commitments the Department made to make districts aware of the plan for a system prior to the start of a school year, restore indicators paused due to data disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and prepare for an opportunity to reimagine the system. |

Proposed Amendment of Sections 52.21, 80-1.1, 80-1.5, 80-3.3, 80-3.4, 80-3.5, 80-3.10, 80-3.11, 80-4.3, 80-5.6, 80-5.13, 80-5.14, 80-5.15, 80-5.18, and 80-5.28 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Certification Examination Requirements and Waiver Options - Department staff will present proposed regulatory amendments to allow candidates to meet the examination requirement for educator certification by passing one of the New York State Teacher Certification Examinations or another examination, as determined by the Department, that is developed for the purpose of educator certification, and to establish waiver options for the content knowledge certificate examination requirement for certain certificates. Update of Approved Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) Tests for Purposes of Eligibility for State Financial Aid - Department staff will present proposed amendments to the current list of approved ATB tests. |
