REGENTS AEWD COMMITTEE

November 16, 2010

            Your AEWD Committee held its scheduled meeting on November 15, 2010.  All members were present, with the exception of Regent Rosa, who was excused.  Additional members of the Board attending were: Chancellor Tisch, Vice Chancellor Cofield, Regent Tallon, Regent Bendit, Regent Dawson, Regent Young, Regent Phillips, and Regent Bottar.

MATTERS NOT REQUIRING BOARD ACTION

The Committee was informed that the office name has been changed to Adult Career and Continuing Education Services (ACCES) and was provided an overview of the office.

The Committee was updated on the status of General Educational Development (GED) and discussed long-term steps towards the development of a new statewide policy that would maintain students access and opportunities while providing for greater levels of student readiness and overall success rates.  This was a follow up discussion from the March 2010 meeting of College and Career Readiness Working Group where the GED Program Budget and Policy were discussed. Deputy Commissioner Smith discussed with the Committee AEWD Strategic Visions and Goals, 2011 Regulatory Agenda and Legislative Priorities.
