Procedural History
The Board of Regents discussed prospective candidates for the position of Secretary to the Board of Regents at an Executive Session of the September Board of Regents Meeting.
Background Information
The current Secretary to the Regents, David Johnson, has announced his retirement, effective November 13, 2008. The Regents conducted an extensive search for his replacement. Based upon the Regents discussion of prospective candidates at the September Regents meeting, the candidacy of Anthony LoFrumento is now before the Board of Regents for action.

Recommendation
VOTED: That the Board of Regents approves the appointment of Anthony LoFrumento as Secretary to the Board of Regents, effective November 13, 2008.
Timetable for Implementation
The appointment will be effective November 13, 2008. Because Mr. Johnson will be out of the office beginning on October 25, 2008, an Interim Designation will be filed with the Secretary of State to permit Mr. LoFrumento to perform the duties of Secretary from October 25, 2008 until the November 13, 2008 effective date of his appointment.
