SUMMARY:

 

            Attached is a supplemental summary recommendation with respect to the application of  Canton Free Library for an amended and restated order of consolidation.

 

            I recommend that the Regents approve the application in accordance with the recommendation contained in the attached summary.

CANTON FREE LIBRARY

 

Canton, St. Lawrence County

 

An Order of Consolidation was granted on November 14, 2003 to Canton Free Library and The Trustees of Benton Library, with Canton Free Library assuming all the assets, liabilities and responsibilities of both organizations. Janet M. Welch and the Office of Cultural Education recommend that the Order of Consolidation be amended and restated for purposes of clarifying the library’s tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code §501 (c)(3).
