Susan W. Mittler was born in New York City and is a first generation American. She attended grades K-12 public school in Queens, New York. Mrs. Mittler earned a BS degree from Cornell University (Human Development and Family Studies) and a Master’s Degree in elementary education from SUNY Cortland.
She has been an educator in New York State for over thirty -five years. For the first half of her career Mrs. Mittler taught children in the nursery – middle school classroom and elementary school students as part of a district-wide gifted and talented program.
Catherine Fisher Collins was elected by a joint session of the New York State Legislature on March 10, 2015, to the Board of Regents for a five-year term representing the 8th judicial district.
Kathleen M. Cashin was elected by a joint session of the Legislature to the Board of Regents to a four-year term effective April 1, 2011, representing the 2nd Judicial District representing the borough of Brooklyn. She was again elected to a five-year term effective April 1, 2015.
Lester W. Young, Jr. is serving his third term as Regent At Large, The University of the State of New York. Currently he co-chairs the P-12 Education Committee and chairs the Regents Workgroup to Improve Outcomes for Boys and Young Men of Color, and, the Early Childhood Workgroup. Continuing his commitment to service, in 2014, Dr. Young was appointed to the New York State Juvenile Justice Advisory Group.
Roger B. Tilles was elected to a five-year term as the Regent for the Tenth Judicial District, commencing on April 1, 2005, re-elected to a second five-year term by concurrent resolution effective April 1, 2010, and re-elected to a third five-year term effective April 1, 2015.
