Renewal Recommendation for Charter School Authorized by the Board of Regents - Department staff will present a recommendation for a charter renewal. Revision Recommendation for a Charter School Authorized by the New York City Department of Education Chancellor - Department staff will present a recommendation for a charter revision from the NYC DOE Chancellor. Proposed Amendment to Section 100.2(ee) of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Providing Flexibility for the Two-Step Identification Process for Academic Intervention Services (AIS) for Students Who Will Be Enrolled in Grades 3-8 for the 2021-2022 School Year in Response to the COVID-19 Crisis - Department staff will present proposed amendments for emergency action to section 100.2(ee) of the Commissioner’s regulations, to provide flexibility for the two-step identification process for academic intervention services for the 2021-22 school year, in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Proposed Amendment to Section 175.5 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Extending the Instructional Hour COVID-19 Waiver to the 2021-2022 School Year - Department staff will present proposed regulatory amendments to section 175.5 of the Commissioner’s regulations, extending to the 2021-22 school year the waiver of the annual instructional hour requirement, where a school district is unable to meet such requirement due to the COVID-19 crisis. |

Higher Education
Proposed Amendment to Sections 52.21, 57-4.5, and 80-1.13 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Permitting the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Training to Be Provided Entirely Online Due to the COVID-19 Crisis - Department staff will present proposed regulatory amendments to permit approved DASA training providers to provide DASA training entirely online, and permit individuals to take such training entirely online, through December 31, 2021. Proposed Timeline and Activities for the Statewide Plan for Higher Education, 2023-2031 - Department staff will present a proposed timeline for developing the Statewide Plan for Higher Education, describe the activities in the proposal, and review a draft of the topics that the sectors would consider while writing their master plans. Proposed Amendment to Sections 80-2.1 and 80-3.1 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education Relating to Permanent School Counselor Certificate Requirements - Department staff will propose regulatory amendments to Sections 80-2.1 and 80-3.1 of the Commissioner’s regulations to allow candidates who have an expired Provisional School Counselor certificate and apply for a Permanent School Counselor certificate prior to February 2, 2023 to meet the Permanent School Counselor certificate requirements until such date, regardless of whether their Provisional certificate was in effect when all requirements were met, and to clarify that candidates who hold a valid Provisional School Counselor certificate and apply for a Permanent School Counselor certificate must meet the requirements for the Permanent School Counselor certificate prior to February 2, 2023 or while under a Provisional School Counselor certificate that was in effect after such date. |

Cultural Education
Digital Equity Summit Report and Libraries’ Role in Serving Communities During the COVID-19 Pandemic - Department staff will describe the role of libraries in digital equity and community resilience during the pandemic by sharing examples from across the state. Department staff will also share results from the Digital Equity Summits held this winter and preview the next Digital Equity Summit to be held on June 15. |
